Bio
Adriane Elliott is a Registered Clinical Aromatherapist with the Canadian Alliance of Aromatherapy, with clientele throughout western Canada. Currently, she is based in Banff National Park - Treaty 7 territory, on the traditional lands of the Stoney Nakoda Nation, the Blackfoot Confederation, the Tsuut’ina, Ktunaxa, and Maskwacis First Nations. Her practice of Holistic Aromatherapy is deeply rooted in the timeless knowledge of earth-based traditions, incorporating the ancient and the modern to bring together connection and healing.
The energetics of the natural world and its cosmic expressions come through the senses and her work in an expression of aroma, colour, pattern, intelligence, and harmony. Vital energy sources are essential to our health and the Earth. Adriane’s work integrates this vitality in practical ways, to bring nature into our daily rituals for collective health and wellbeing. Nature's higher intelligence speaks through her work.
Born in Vancouver BC, the land of British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies are deeply imprinted. Her formative scent memories are of a child living in the high country - the scent of Poplar buds stuck on the soles of her feet, the intoxicating aroma of alpine balsams warming in the sun, rich mineral soil; mixed with the metropolitan aromas of health food stores, flower markets, coffee shops, the ocean, and incense. These early impressions greatly influenced the development of her work. The rich biodiversity of this land and its positive influence on the human body/mind continually guide her creative process.
At the age of ten, Adriane studied Reiki with a group of children in the backwoods of BC; this sparked her studies in the healing arts. Her youth was enriched in the energy of the mountains, yoga, and underground dance culture in her home of Nelson, BC. Here she began her formal studies of Yoga Philosophy and Asana, Rebalancing bodywork, Rolfing, Trager, Deep Tissue Massage, and Chinese Medicine Energetics. In 2008 she moved back to the Canadian Rockies and spent ten years refining her skills in massage and various holistic body treatments. The move also deepened her connection to the beauty and vitality of raw landscapes.
Throughout her life, there has been a continual woven thread. A tread that came from her lineage of women, mastered in various fine textile arts. Her knowledge of textiles is simply second nature. She spent a year studying Fibre at the Kootenay School of the Arts and refined some technical aspects of the craft.
In 2016 Adriane began deepening her studies of plant-based medicines. This beginning coincided with the birth of her son. The natural retreat of new motherhood brought stillness and realignment to her work path. In 2018 she graduated as a Clinical Aromatherapist from the West Coast Institute of Aromatherapy, and shortly after gave birth to her daughter. The initiation to motherhood has been the biggest heart-expanding and transformative experience of her life. Navigating a vast terrain of highs and lows as a mother, she landed in the web of universal feminine wisdom; a space of unconditional love and perseverance. Today Adriane celebrates working with women and families through this diverse transition in her practice of Prenatal and Postpartum Clinical Aromatherapy.
